On June 9, 2026, the Office of the Comptroller General (CGU) and the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) opened a Public Consultation to receive contributions from society for the Transparency and Personal Data Protection Guide. The deadline for participation ends on June 21, 2026.

The Guide aims to support public agents in the harmonious and secure application of the Freedom of Information Act (LAI) and the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), especially in situations involving requests for access to information related to personal data.

Among the topics covered are the limits and exceptions to the right of access to information, the scenarios for accessing personal information, the criteria for disclosing data in active and passive transparency, and the guidelines for the proper processing of personal data within the context of the LAI.

Why participate in the Public Consultation?

The Public Consultation is an excellent opportunity for companies, entities, experts, researchers, public servants, and other interested parties to contribute to the improvement of an instrument that will guide the Public Administration’s actions on a sensitive topic that is increasingly present in institutional routines. Participation helps align the content of the Guide with concrete situations faced by public and private organizations, particularly in contexts that require a balance between transparency, data protection, governance, risk management, and integrity.

For companies that interface with the Government, participate in public procurement, receive information requests, process personal data in regulated environments, or structure integrity programs, the Guide will serve as an important benchmark for reviewing policies, internal procedures, and decision-making workflows.

How to participate?

Contributions can be submitted until June 21, 2026, through the Brasil Participativo platform, which can be accessed here.

Following the close of the submission window, the contributions will be analyzed by the CGU and the ANPD for the consolidation of the final text and its subsequent official publication.
